  Abstract:
We consider certain families of charged rotating asymptotically AdS5 Extremal black holes with Vanishing Horizon (EVH black holes) which develop locally AdS3 throats in near horizon geometries. We then propose an EVH/CFT2 correspondence, which is the AdS3/CFT2 duality specialized for the EVH black holes, to describe the near-horizon low energy IR dynamics of near-EVH black holes. We argue that the near-EVH, near horizon limit is well-defined, and presumably a decoupling limit, if we also take a certain large N limit in the UV 4d U(N) dual field theory. We give a map between the UV near-EVH excitations and the IR ones, which geometrically appear as BTZ mass and angular momentum, and show that the `UV first law' of thermodynamics reduces to the `IR first law' of the BTZ black hole in the near-EVH limit. We also discuss the connection between our EVH/CFT proposal and the Kerr/CFT in the cases where the two overlap.
