Abstract

We study certain sums of irreducible characters and compatible unions of conjugacy classes in group algebras of finite groups. The presentation is based on the work of Diaconis and Isaacs which generalizes the earlier results of Carlos Andre and Ning Yan for the unipotent group of upper triangular matrices.
