11:00 - 12:00 Journal Club: Experiment & Phenomenology – Hybrid Format Impact of Projected EIC Data on Extraction of Parton Distribution Functions School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: The Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) promises to revolutionize our understanding of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) by providing high-precision data over a vast kinematic range. This lecture will explore two complementary studies showcasing the transformative impact of simulated EIC data on parton distribution functions (PDFs) and the precision determination of the strong coupling constant. We will examine how EIC pseudodata significantly reduce PDF uncertainties, particularly in the large-x, addressing long-standing limitations of previous collider datasets like those from HERA. Additionally, we highlight the precision improvements ... |
