A new renormalizable model for axion-like particle and its phenomenology

PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS

Abstract:

Axion-like particles (ALPs) are promising candidates for light dark matter (DM), and their dynamics is described by the dark sector of Lagrangian. It is usually assumed that the dark sector is CP conserving. However, it does not have to be so. Actually, CP is violating in the weak interaction in the standard model. In this talk, we introduce a new renormalizable model with CP violation in the dark sector and discuss the properties and testability of the predicted ALP. In addition, we discuss a phenomenon of Higgs bosons which is happening in a specific situation, focusing on this new ALP model as a concrete model. Nam ...

COGNITIVE SCIENCES

Abstract:

?????:

Brain function depends on neural communication, but the mechanisms of this communication are not well understood. Recent studies suggest that one form of neural communication is through traveling waves (TWs)—patterns of neural oscillations that propagate within and between areas. In this talk, I'll review potential mechanisms generating these propagating oscillations, and then I'll cover an experimental design investigating the behavioral relevance of TWs. In this study, we show TWs appear robustly in microarray recordings in monkey frontal and parietal cortex and encode memory for recent rewards ...
