En route towards a self-consistent AdS/QCD model in a magnetic background: construction and applications

Abstract: Using an Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton setup in conjunction with the potential reconstruction method, we report on our progress in constructing a dual version of QCD in a magnetic background in 3+1 dimensions. We pay particular attention to the consistency of the constructed potential. We discuss the deconfinement transition, anisotropic string tensions and chiral transition in the probe approximation. If time permits, we will also consider charmonium dissociation. We shall end with possible future improvements of the current model.

The social function of human vision appears clear from the highly specialized mechanisms for face and body perception. Here, I address the social function of vision with respect to the representation of human groups and their relationships.
I will present a set of behavioral, fMRI and EEG studies addressing how the representation of social interaction emerges from object perception, through the analysis of spatial relations between multiple faces and bodies in visual scenes.

Since introducing Calabi-Yau varieties, a vast number of works in mathematics and theoretical physics have been dedicated to the study of differential equations which are related to these varieties. The solutions of these differential equations, or system of differential equations, provide us with innumerous infinite series or q-expansions (Fourier series) with integer coefficients which are generating functions of certain quantities. In lower dimensions, let us say in dimensions 1 and 2 which are elliptic curves and K3 surfaces, usually these encountered q-expansions are (quasi-)modular forms.
