| 11:00 - 12:00 Theory Weekly Seminar (TWS)-skyroom Anomalous Hall instability in the Chern-Simons magnetohydrodynamics School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS Abstract: The Maxwell-Chern-Simons Lagrangian introduces the chiral magnetic current to the resistive magnetohydrodynamics through the temporal comoving derivative of an axion-like field. Also, a nonzero spatial gradient of the axion gives rise to the anomalous Hall current. We show that while the existence of a chiral magnetic current is a nonequilibrium effect, the anomalous Hall current can exist in equilibrium. We analyze the linear stability and causality of the Chern-Simons magnetohydrodynamics in the resistive and chiral medium, with nonvanishing anomalous Hall current.
