Out of equilibrium systems and the NPI method

PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS

Based on: Some papers

Abstract: In order to study the out of equilibrium systems and basically the ones which have strong enough coupling constants, the ordinary methods in QFT would fail. In this respect, we have to seek methods which are not based on perturbative procedures. We first go to review and introduce the 2PI method and demonstrate its difference with perturbative methods in QFT. After that, we go to examine the systems in out of equilibrium state and discuss their dynamics. Eventually, as an example, we take the Ising model in out of equilibrium case and investigate it with the above mentioned methods.

The benefits and limitations of taking a cognitive perspective on self-control conflicts

COGNITIVE SCIENCES

Abstract:
Self-control conflicts are a ubiquitous part of our daily lives. Over the last years, research on self-control has benefitted from applying insights on response conflicts produced by research in cognitive psychology. This approach is useful, because it combines the strength of the cognitive approach (experimental control) with the strength of the self-control context (ecological validity). It is also fitting, given that self-control conflicts share several basic features with response conflicts typically studied in distractor interference (e.g., Stroop) tasks: people need to engage control processes to inhi ...
