The astrophysical applications of gravitational microlensing

In this talk, I will give a brief introduction to the theory of gravitational of microlensing. The first astrophysical application of microlensing was the detection of compact objects in the galactic halo as the candidate of the dark matter. After two decades this method is used for detection of extrasolar planets orbiting about the lens stars. The large field of view telescopes with a high cadence in photometry could detect small objects such a free floating planets. The space-based telescopes such as Spitzer and Kepler in recent years also joined to the ground-based telescopes for microlensing observations. The advantage of this observation ...

Measurement for quantum state tomography and state preparation

Quantum information science has been emerging in the last couple of decades because of its genuine insights into basic problems in computation and communication. These ideas might revolutionize our technology if we overcome many technical challenges. Among this obstacles, characterization of the quantum state of a system is the first step towards any successful quantum information processing task. In this talk, I would address the measurement paradigm
which not only is one of the pillars of quantum mechanics, but also is necessa ...

Constraining Dark Photon (Mediated) Dark Matter via Cold Gas Clouds in the Vicinity of Galactic Center

Abstract: Dark photon portal dark matter is among the simplest and most well-motivated dark matter scenarios. In this talk, we will discuss how the observation of cold gas clouds a few hundred parsecs away from the Galactic Center can probe a region of dark photon mediated dark matter parameter space that is out of reach of other experiments. Furthermore, dark photon, itself, can be a dark matter candidate. We will discuss the conditions necessary for this possibility and the novel bounds cold gas clouds can place on this particular scenario.
