| 13:30 - 15:00 Weekly Seminar The astrophysical applications of gravitational microlensing School ASTRONOMY In this talk, I will give a brief introduction to the theory of gravitational of microlensing. The first astrophysical application of microlensing was the detection of compact objects in the galactic halo as the candidate of the dark matter. After two decades this method is used for detection of extrasolar planets orbiting about the lens stars. The large field of view telescopes with a high cadence in photometry could detect small objects such a free floating planets. The space-based telescopes such as Spitzer and Kepler in recent years also joined to the ground-based telescopes for microlensing observations. In this talk, we will discuss how the observation of cold gas clouds a few hundred parsecs away from the Galactic Center can probe a region of dark photon mediated dark matter parameter space that is out of reach of other experiments. Furthermore, dark photon, itself, can be a dark matter candidate.
