Search for dark matter produced in association with a single top quark or a top quark pair in proton-proton collisions at sqrt s =13TeV

Abstract: A search is performed for dark matter produced in association with top quarks in data from proton- proton collisions at center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at the LHC. In particular, the search is designed to investigate the associated production of dark matter with a single top quark, a previously overlooked process. The data set corresponds to 36 fb?1 collected with the CMS detector in 2016. The results are interpreted in the context of simplified models where a new scalar or pseudo scalar mediator couples to the top quark and subsequently decays into two dark matter particles."
