11:00 - 12:00 Computational Nano Science journal club Principles and simulations of high-resolution STM imaging with a flexible tip apex School NANO SCIENCES Principles and simulations of high-resolution STM imaging with a flexible tip apex We present a robust but still efficient simulation approach for high-resolution scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) with a flexible tip apex showing sharp submolecular features. The approach takes into account the electronic structure of the sample and tip as well as relaxation of the tip apex. We validate our model by achieving good agreement with various experimental images which allows us to explain the origin of several observed features. Classroom A. ... 15:30 - 16:30 Weekly Seminar Non-Bessel-Gaussianity and Flow Harmonic Fine Splitting School PARTICLES AND ACCELERATORS In this talk, I will first review the concept of cumulants and their application in heavy ion physics. We introduce an approximation around the Bessel-Gaussian for the flow harmonic distribution where the expansion coefficients are written in terms of n-particle cumulants. We call this distribution as Radial-Gram_Charlier (RGC) distribution. The RGC distribution leads us to define a new set of cumulants for heavy ion physics. Using these new cumulants, we will show that the average of the ellipticity for the second harmonics depends on the fine splitting of v_2{2k}. Larak Seminar Room ... |
