  Abstract:
The dynamics of magellanic stream (MS) as a series of clouds extend from the magellanic clouds (MCs) to the south Galactic pole is affected by the distribution and the amount of matter in the Milky Way. A quasi-steady model for the flow of the gas is used for describing the dynamics of MS. The gravitational effect of power law halo model including the corresponding disk and bulge on the MS is calculated and compared with the observation. Amongst eight Galactic models, the thick disk model has the most compatibility with the observation. The gravitational effect of MCs induces a gradient on the column density along the MS that compared with the observation results a mass of 1.4 ×1010M\odot for the MCs.
