  Abstract:
Kirchhoff and colleagues claimed that grana stacking can be fully explained by the physicochemical balance between competing attractive van der Waals (vdW) forces, and repulsive electrostatic double layer (EDL) and hydration forces. Moreover, they refuted the long-standing conclusion that grana stacking cannot be justified by combining the three forces in action. Herein, we present arguments that greatly limit their suggested conclusions.
