Abstract:

We show how to reformulate some well-known minimization algorithms in term of dynamic systems. Global minimization is then presented through the solution of over-determined boundary value problem. The approach requires the knowledge of the infimum. The approach is validated through the minimization of several strongly non-convex functionals. The second part of the talk concerns industrial shape optimization problems. We present some new aerodynamic applications as well as a new application for the design of microfluidic devices.
