    First talk:
    On the Elementary Theories of Free Nilpotent Lie Algebras and Free Nilpotent Groups(September 6, Time:17:00-17:45)



    ABSTRACT: In this talk we will discuss certain aspects of the model theory of a free nilpotent Lie algebra of finite rank over a characteristic zero integral do�main, and the model theory of a free nilpotent group of finite rank. In each case we give an algebraic description of objects elementarily equivalent to these structures. We will also give some historical background of this type of prob�lems.




    Second talk:
    Geometric Group Theory and Logic ( September 6, Time: 18:00-18:45)

    ABSTRACT: This talk will mostly be an exposition of some well-known links between geometric group theory and logic. We will try to introduce certain concepts from geometric group theory like, limits of groups and asymptotic cones and explain their relationships with model theory. We will also briefly address the problem of finding a relationship between quasi-isometry and elementary equivalence of finitely generated nilpotent groups.
